In March 2026, we met again in Arnhem.
Over the course of the visit, we went to five different coffeeshops, had friendly conversations with store personnel and customers, and tried a couple of different strains. It was especially interesting to learn more about the different genetics, groweries and their products.
Coffeeshops visited: Speak Easy, Omigo, Uncle Sam, Happy Days, Zero Zero
Strain samples purchased: Super Orange Glue & Exodus Cheese handtrimmed by Q-Farms
The visit was a great opportunity to see how legal cannabis sales can function in practice: with real locations, product menus, customer interaction, personal recommendations and a culture that has developed over many years.
Especially compared to Germany, this was a strong contrast. At the moment, the legal options there are still limited mainly to growing cannabis yourself or ordering through an online pharmacy. Experiencing the Dutch coffeeshop model in Arnhem provided a better understanding of what a more established cannabis culture can look like — not only as a sales concept, but also as a social and cultural space.
At the same time, the trip was not only about cannabis. Arnhem itself, with its history and sights such as the Bridge of Arnhem, added another layer to the experience.
